2019 Rules

Blue Division Rule Reminders

  • No new inning will be allowed to start after 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  • All games will have a 2-hour "hard stop" time limit. In the event of the hard stop in the middle of an inning, scores will revert to the beginning of the inning where the stop occurred.
  • Uniforms: Gray, Black, or White pants will be allowed. Players should be wearing their CLBR hat and jersey provided to them.
  • No out will be recorded for a roster of 8 players. Teams shall be allowed to play with 8 without penalty.
  • Pitching Rules:
    • 7-innings maximum per player in one calendar week (Sunday through Saturday)
    • No more than 5-innings can be thrown by one player in a single game.
    • If a player pitches more than 3 innings (4 or more), 2 days rest is required.
    • 1 pitch thrown by a pitcher counts as 1 inning.

Pitching Rule Example: If a player throws 4 innings on Monday, they must rest for two (2) days (Tuesday and Wednesday). They will be eligible to pitch again on Thursday of that week.

Blue Division Coaches: Please make sure to inform any Ironmen player his pitch count so that they can report it to their Ironmen coaches.

Red Division Rule Reminders

  • No new inning will be allowed to start after 1 hour and 45 minutes.
  • All games will have a "hard stop" at 10:15 PM.
  • Pitching Rules (NEW for 2019)
    • Pitching rest rules will follow IHSA Varsity Pitch Count and Rest Rules (IHSA Pitch Count and Rest Rules) with the following exceptions:
      • ALL Ironmen Players are limited to 60 pitches in a single game.
      • ALL Ironmen players that throw 40 or more pitches in a single game, must rest two (2) additional days
    • Pitch count must be reported with the game score by the winning team after each game

Pitching Rule Examples (NON-IRONMEN PLAYERS ONLY):

1) If a player throws 31-45 pitches on a Monday, per IHSA rest rules, that player must rest 1 day. They would be eligible to pitch again on Wednesday.
2) If a player throws 76-105 pitches on Monday, per IHSA rest rules, that player must rest 4 days. They would be eligible to pitch again on Saturday.
3) Please note that IHSA caps ALL pitchers at 105 pitches. No pitcher may throw more than 105 pitches in a single game.

Pitching Rule Examples (ALL IRONMEN PLAYERS ONLY):
1) If an Ironmen player throws 39 pitches or less on Monday, per IHSA rest rules, that player must rest 1 day. They would be eligible to pitch again on Wednesday.
2) If an Ironmen player throws 40-60 pitches on Monday, per the modification of the IHSA rules by CLBR, that player must rest 2 days. They would be eligible to pitch on Thursday.

Important Pitch Count Note (per IHSA):
A pitcher who reaches a pitch count limit in the middle of an at-bat will be allowed to pitch to that batter until that at-bat ends.
For example: If a non-Ironmen player starts a new batter at 44 pitches, they may pitch to that batter until the at-bat ends. If the at-bat ends at 50 pitches, 45 pitches is recorded as the official pitch count and the player must rest 1 day (see the rest schedule for 31-45 pitches). The same is true for Ironmen players and the modified pitch count/rest rules.
